In Odessa, people bring flowers to the monument to the unknown sailor. Earlier, the Odessa authorities announced that increased security measures will be introduced, police officers will be on duty near the memorial complexes.

Recall that in recent years the Ukrainian authorities have tried to eradicate the celebration of Victory Day. Many monuments to Soviet soldiers have been demolished, others remain in ruins. The other day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree on the celebration of May 9 as Europe Day. On May 8, Ukraine will celebrate the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism.
The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on this decision, said that many people live in Ukraine, for whom May 9 is a holy day.
